Phone and Text Banking Best Practices

Phone and Text Banking Best Practices

  • Use these scripts as a guide, but adapt the language so it feels as natural for you as possible. The more comfortable and conversational you sound, the more receptive the voter will be to your message!
  • Be friendly but to the point. The voter may only have a minute or so to talk, so make sure you get in all the information you can.
  • We recommend that you keep our FAQs handy in case any questions come up about Vote Early Day or voting early in general.
  • People often won’t respond to phones or texts but will still listen to or read your message. Leave as much information as you can in the voicemail message or initial text so they still have access to the most important details.
  • Reach out to your local election office to get contact information for your target audience. They will usually provide a list of at least all the registered voters in your community.

If you have encountered a problem with voting, please call this national nonpartisan hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE.
